Shooting forward C.J. Trotter, a former track and basketball standout at Southern Indiana University, signed with the Island Storm on Tuesday.

Trotter, a Hopkinsville, Kentucky, native, led his team to the Global Basketball Summer League Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., in the summer, scoring more than 21 points per game while shooting 46 per cent from the three-point line. He was also named a first team all-star and co-MVP of the league.

Trotter toured last season with the Harlem Globetrotters, suiting up for the team that played against the Globetrotters. He averaged more than 22 points per game in a German pro league earlier in his career.

Joe Salerno, Storm head coach, said he's looking forward to utilizing the six-foot-five guard's talents.

“C.J. is a tremendous athlete. He has the ability to flat out shoot the ball. He was outstanding at the GBSL in Vegas and had a very productive rookie season in Germany right out of Southern Indiana," said Salerno. “He adds even more depth to our backcourt and I’m very excited to get him into training camp.”

At Southern Indiana, Trotter was a second team all-conference selection in  basketball and track as a high jumper. He scored in double figures 30 times during his two years at the university, hitting 20 points or more 11 times, and as a senior he led Southern Indiana in scoring (15 points per game).

Season tickets for the upcoming season, which starts Thursday, Nov. 6, when the Storm host the Saint John Mill Rats, are now sale. Single game ticket go on sale Monday, Oct. 6.
