The P.E.I. Scotiabank Reds are heading to the Canadian national under-18 girls fast pitch championship in Saskatoon, Sask. The P.E.I. Scotiabank Reds scored four runs in the third inning to defeat Nova Scotia 7-1 Friday at the Canadian under-18 girls softball championship in Saskatoon.
Laura Ready led the way, going 3-for-3 with two runs.
Kailey Koughan had two hits, a run and an RBI while Kaylan Ellsworth was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run. Jada Yeo, Emily Cairns, Hope Higginbotham and Brailyne Jenkins each added a hit.
Alyssa Fleming threw a seven-hitter for the win. She walked four and struck out seven.
The Reds went 3-0 in the Co-op Challenge Cup playoff section of the tournament after opening 1-3 in the seeding round.
P.E.I. plays for gold Saturday at 5 p.m. Atlantic.
