Four P.E.I. players to play at ISC tourney

Four Islanders will be playing at the International Softball Congress (ISC) World Fastball Tournament in Kitchener, Ont., beginning Saturday.

Pitcher Mitch Hardy, of Alberton, and outfielder Jeff Ellsworth, of Brooklyn, will be playing with the Hill United Chiefs. Both are members of the Summerside Chrysler Dodge Eagles.

Pitcher Steve Langley, of New Glasgow, is with the Waterdown Hammer and catcher Mark Arsenault, of Charlottetown, the Scarborough Force. Langley and Arsenault both play with the Charlottetown John Brown Grille Fawcetts.

Hardy and Ellsworth will join the Fawcetts for the Canadian senior men’s fastball championships in Charlottetown from Aug. 26 to 31.

The Fawcetts’ four import players will also be at the ISC tournament.

Infielder Brandon Horn is with the Kitchener Twins, outfielder Mark Johnson is with the Chiefs. Pitchers Andy Skelton and Don Scott are with Scarborough.

The Chiefs are the top-ranked team going into the tournament, which concludes Saturday, Aug. 16. Kitchener has hosted the event in 2002, 2006 and 2007.
