The P.E.I. Scotiabank Reds are heading to the Canadian national under-18 girls fast pitch championship in Saskatoon, Sask. British Columbia Two doubled the P.E.I. Scotiabank Reds 10-5 Tuesday at the Canadian under-18 girls softball championships in Saskatoon.
The Island squad trailed 2-1 before B.C. scored five runs on four hits and two errors in the bottom of the fifth. The Reds responded with four in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-5. B.C. added three in the sixth en route to victory.
Emily Cairns was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Island squad. She is hitting .556 with four RBIs through the three games.
Kailey Koughan, Jada Yeo, Hope Higginbotham, Laura Ready, Katie Rayner, Rebecca Palmer and Abbie Morrissey all had hits.
Alyssa Fleming gave up seven runs on eight hits in four innings of work in taking the loss. Jordon Havenga allowed three runs on four hits in two innings of relief.
P.E.I., which lost Monday’s late game with Quebec 14-1, falls to 0-3. They play Manitoba Two today at 6 p.m. ADT.
