Connaughton in Scotland for Commonwealth Games

New Haven native Jared Connaughton begins his quest for gold when the 2014 Commonwealth Games start today in Glasgow, Scotland.

Connaughton is running for Canada in the 4x100 metre men's relay. Ottawa’s Oluwasegun Makinde and Toronto’s Dontae Richards-Kwok are also on the team for the event.

Canada finished first in qualifying in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, but was disqualified in the final.

Great Britain is the defending Commonwealth champion.

Heats in the 4x100 metres begin Friday.
