Sluggers score early in victory over Heat

The Subway Sluggers scored five runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 15-5 victory over the Summerside Heat in recent softball action in Summerside.

The Sluggers scored their first-inning runs on five consecutive singles.  Heather Drake’s home run in the fourth inning and Prisicilla Curran’s grand slam in the fifth inning added to the Subway lead.  

Summerside scored two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Audrey Buchanan was the winning pitcher while Jassmine Gearey took the loss.  Tracy Arsenault went 4-for-4 to lead the Sluggers while Carol Lilly went 2-for-2.  

Jessica Stewart was 3-for-3 for the Heat, including a double and a home run, while Bailey MacIsaac was 1-for-2.
