P.E.I.’s women’s gymnastics training team for the 2015 Canada Games will take part in a training camp on Saturday and Sunday.

It is part of their preparation for team selection in the fall.

Hosted by Island Gymnastics Academy, the camp will also include coach education sessions open to all Island coaches and a training session for level three

and four girls.

“Our local gymnasts and coaches always learn so much from these training camps,” said Sharon Gareau, Gymnastics P.E.I. technical director. “We really value collaborating with coaches from other clubs. It’s an important part of our training program.”

Guest coaches will be Nick Blanton and Carola Baker.

Blanton is head coach of Fundy Gymnastics in Saint John, N.B. His many accomplishments include his role as the director of international gymnastics camp in the U.S., and coaching numerous national team gymnasts in Great Britain. He is also a highly regarded clinician and gymnastics expert.

Baker is a NCCP level four master coach, who has produced numerous national champions. She graduated with high honours from the Seneca College coaching program and was a Central European AA silver medallist.
