Jason Saggo won his UFC debut Saturday in Vancouver.
The 28-year-old Grand Tracadie resident defeated Josh Shockley by TKO with three seconds to go in the first round.
“I’m stoked,” he told the octagon-side TV reporter after the decision was announced at UFC 174. “This is an amazing life experience.”
Saggo had a couple of takedowns in the bout. He got position on Shockley late in the round and when the referee yelled 10 seconds, Saggo went to work.
“I just put my hips in and started throwing more leather.”
The victory pushes Saggo’s professional record to 10-1 while Shockey is 11-3-0.
Saggo trains with coach Paul Abel at the Wulfrun MMA in Clyde River.
