Bombers shut out Jays in KCBL action
Andrew O’Shea picked up a complete game win in leading the Morell Chevies to a 9-4 win over the Peakes Tee Sluggers Wednesday in Kings County Baseball League action.
O’Shea benefitted from four timely double plays turned by his defence.
The Chevies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on back-to-back home runs by Desi Doyle and Troy Coffin against Slugger pitcher Sam Walsh. The Sluggers answered with a run in their half of the inning as Nick Ryan drove home Will Jadis.
The Chevies exploded for six runs in the fourth, keyed by Doyle’s second homer of the game, a three-run shot. The Sluggers closed the gap in the seventh inning on a Mitchell Power three-run home run.
Doyle finished with a pair of home runs and five RBIs, while Coffin and Scott Harper each added a pair of hits. Craig Lawlor, making his season debut, reached base three times for the Chevies.
Luke MacDonald was 3-for-3 to lead the Sluggers while Ryan and Jadis each added two hits.

Rob Phelan threw a three-hitter in a complete game shutout as the Peakes Bombers defeated the Charlottetown Jays 6-0.
Blair Creelman suffered the loss as the Bombers scored six runs on 14 hits.
Phelan 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Trevor McAree 3-for-4 and Colin Myers 2-for-3 with three stolen bases led the charge for the Bombers.
Owen Wilson had two hits for the Jays while Greg Stapleton added one.
