A new race has been added to the schedule as part of the recently announced TriathlonP.E.I. Race Series.
The Ferry Road Duathlon will take place Sunday in Cornwall and offers race options for the whole family through sprint, super sprint divisions and kids of steel events.
"The course is mostly flat and fast with some small hills," said race organizer Gaetan Dallaire. "This is a friendly, fun race and a great place for beginners to try their first event. We're also really proud to offer kids races so that young children have a chance to experience this great sport."
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at Primrose Point Park (110 Primrose Dr.) with sprint and super sprint divisions starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $15 for TriP.E.I./TriN.S. members and $20 for non-members.
The sprint distance for 16 years and older is a 2.5-km run, a 20-km bike and five-km run while the super sprint distances for 12 years and older are a 1-km run, a 10-km bike and a 2.5-km run.
The kids of steel race distances for six to eight year olds are a 100-m run, a 1.5-km bike and a 300-m run. For nine to 11 year olds, it is a 500-m run, a three-km bike a one-km run.
Registration for the kids events will open at 10:30 a.m. with an 11:30 a.m. start. Cost is $10 with all kids receiving finisher medals and a T-shirt.
