New Haven sprinter Jared Connaughton was named to Team Canada on Wednesday for the inaugural International Association of Athletics Federation I world relays May 24 and 25 in Nassau, The Bahamas.
Connaughton, a two-time Summer Olympian, will race in the men's 4x100 metre event with Dontae Richards-Kwok (Mississauga, Ont.), Gavin Smellie (Etobicoke, Ont.), Oluwasegun Makinde (Ottawa, Ont.) and Justyn Warner (Markham, Ont.).
Canada will field teams in men's and women's 4x100- and 4x400-metre. Prize money will be awarded to teams placing in the top eight as well as qualification into the 2015 IAAF world championships.
The women's 4x100-metres relay heats and finals are Saturday, May 24. The women's and men's 4x400-metres relay heats are May 25 followed by the finals Sunday, May 25.
The men's 4x100-metres relay heats and finals are also May 25.
