Island Storm opens NBL final tonight in Ontario

The Island Storm begins its quest for a National Basketball League of Canada championship tonight in Windsor, Ont.

Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ADT.

The Storm meets the Windsor Express in the best-of-seven final.

Going into the finals the Storm is getting it done shooting from the floor (46 per cent), the three-point line (41) and from the free-throw line (82 per cent).

NBL MVP candidate Antonio Ballard continues to lead the team in scoring (22 points per game) while grabbing almost 10 rebounds per game.

Nick Okorie is scoring 18 points per game while shooting more than 50 per cent from the three-point line.

Players to watch for the Express include Stefan Bonneau, who leads the team with 22 points per game, and Chris Commons with 18. Kevin Loiselle is the Express rebounding leader with 7.47 per game while Quinnel Brown has grabbed 7.17.

Game 2 will go Sunday afternoon in Windsor before moving to P.E.I. for games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary) on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
