NBL team concludes five-game road trip with win in Halifax

The Island Storm closed the regular season with a win Thursday in Halifax.

The Storm defeated the Rainmen 113-104 to conclude a stretch of five National Basketball League of Canada road games in six nights. They finished the road trip 1-5 to end the regular season 22-18.

Nick Okorie led the Storm with 37 points on Thursday while Jeremy Williams (15), Adrian Moss (14), Ed Jones (12), Dwayne Smith (10) and Steve Tchiengang (10) also scored in double digits. Jones added 12 rebounds while Moss had 13 assists.

Jason Williams led Halifax with 28 points.

The Storm held quarter leads of 27-21, 51-43 and 79-77. Antonio Ballard, Al Stewart and Shawn Vanzant did not play.

The Storm begins the playoffs Monday at home against the Moncton Miracles. Game time is 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre. Game 2 in the best-of-five series is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at home.

Game 3 is Friday and Game 4, if necessary, is Sunday, March 7. Both games are in Moncton. The fifth game, if needed, is set for March 13 at Eastlink Centre.

The Saint John Mill Rats won the Atlantic Division and will play Halifax in the first round beginning Tuesday in Saint John, N.B.
