Island Storm sets home dates for opening round of playoffs

The Island Storm doesn’t know who it will play in the first round of the playoffs, but it has set the dates for the home games.

The National Basketball League of Canada playoff series will start on Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre.

Game two in the best-of-five series will be played at Eastlink Centre on Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. If a fifth game is needed, it will be played at Eastlink Centre Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

Playoff packages are on sale at the Eastlink Centre box office for season ticket holders, who have until the end of the day Friday to purchase their 10-game package and reserve their playoff seats. Ten-game playoff packages with a reserved seat go on sale to the general public Monday at the Eastlink Centre box office while single game tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 1.

The Storm left snowy Prince Edward Island for Ontario on Wednesday for games in London, Brampton and Mississauga on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, respectively. They conclude the regular season with two games in Halifax next week.

The Storm enters the weekend atop the Atlantic Division and third overall on the strength of a nine-game home winning streak and having won 10 of their last 11 games.

The Storm has a one-game lead on the Saint John Mill Rats for the Atlantic Division title.

Centre Casey Love will make his Storm debut on Saturday in London. The former Mill Rats player was added after centre Nick Evans re-injured his foot and is out for the remainder of the season.
