Mark Morrison brought home a gold medal at the first Atlantic regional snowboard event of the 2014 season.
The 15-year-old Montague resident finished first Sunday in the men’s 15- to 19-year-old giant slalom event. The event was hosted by Snowboard Nova Scotia, at Ski Martock, outside of Windsor, N.S.
This was Morrison’s first event of the season, after a highly successful 2013 that saw him reach the podium in both Nova Scotia and Quebec provincial championships. Morrison also placed ninth in giant slalom in his first visit to the Canadian championship last year.
He competes in both boarder-cross and giant slalom disciplines of snowboarding.
