The Island Storm has signed shooting forward Ed Jones from the Delaware 87’s of the NBA’s development league.
“Ed will bring some more size and versatility to our lineup,” said Storm coach Joe Salerno. “He can play multiple positions for us and brings another consistent three-point threat to the table.”
To make room for Jones the Storm released Amani Daanish.
From Leesburg, Virginia, the six-foot-seven Jones played his college basketball at North Carolina A&T State University. During his senior year Jones average close to 13 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals while playing close to 30 minutes a game and shooting close to 45 per cent from the floor.
Jones played professional basketball with Division 2 Baloncesto Galicia Ferrol of Spain’s Pro League where he averaged 10 points per game.
“Size and shooters are two things our club needs right now and Ed brings both of those to our team,” Salerno said. “I look forward to getting him into practice and up to speed with things as quickly as possible. In my mind, Ed could be the final piece to the puzzle.”
The Storm plays the London Lightning Saturday at 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre in a rematch of last year’s NBL finals.
Saturday’s game is P.E.I. Minor Basketball Night where each minor basketball player on P.E.I. who wears his jersey to the game accompanied by an adult will receive a ticket to the game compliments of Prebilt Steel.
