The Moncton Miracles defeated the Island Storm 101-89 Sunday in National Basketball League of Canada action.
It is the Storm’s third loss in Moncton in 10 days as the Miracles take a 4-2 record in head-to-head meetings this season with the Storm.
The Storm falls to 11-10 while the Miracles improve to 7-14.
The game was tied at 26 after the first quarter while the Storm took a 44-41 lead to the half. Moncton led 69-65 going to the final frame where they outscored the Storm 32-24.
Johnny Mayhane scored 28 to lead the Miracles while Oliver McNally added 19.
Antonio Ballard scored 19 for the Storm while Shawn Vanzant had 17.
The Miracles shot 51 per cent from the field compared to the Storm’s 37 per cent. The host team received more scoring from its bench (45-30), points in the paint (52-38) and second-chance points (21-8) than the Storm, who held the advantage on points off turnovers 29-19.
The Storm returns to action Saturday when London comes to town in a rematch of last year’s league final. Game time is 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre.
