Former Summerside Western Capital Parker Deighan recently joined the Deer Lake-based Western Flyers of the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League.

And it hasn’t taken the five-foot-11 and 175-pound defenceman long to make an impression.

In four games with the Royals, the left-handed-shooting Deighan has 11 points — two goals and nine assists — and 12 penalty minutes.

Deighan is tied for second in team scoring, and the Royals have a 3-1 record with him in the lineup.

Deighan, who also has experience in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, played four seasons with the Capitals in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League), and then toiled with the Saint Mary’s Huskies of the Atlantic University Sport Men’s Hockey Conference the last two years.

Deighan, 23, is the son of Elliot Deighan of Charlottetown and Michelle Beaman of Summerside.

Former Western Capitals defenceman Darren Langdon, who went on to play 546 games in the National Hockey League, also plays for the Royals.

Langdon, who has 11 points, including six goals, in 10 games, is from Deer Lake, N.L.
