Charlottetown Islanders goaltender Eric Brassard starts against his former teammates tonight in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
The 18-year-old from Montreal will lead the
visiting Islanders (5-0-0-1) against the Gatineau Olympiques (4-2-0-0) at 8:30 p.m. Atlantic.
Tonight is the first of three games in four nights for the Islanders in Quebec. The Islanders play Val-d’Or on Friday and Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday.
Brassard stopped 34 of 36 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over Saint John on Sept. 22 in his only start this season.
Charlottetown acquired the six-foot-one, 167-pound netminder on Aug. 1 for a fifth-round draft pick in 2014.
The teams have also completed two other trades during the past year.
On Aug. 19, Charlottetown acquired right-winger Kameron Kielly, a fifth- and eight-round picks in 2015 for Alexandre Chenier-Allard, a first-round pick in 2014 and a sixth-rounder in 2016.
Kielly has two goals and four assists in six games this season while Chenier-Allard has three assists in six games. Kielly’s two goals were game-winners to tie for the league lead.
On Dec. 22, Charlottetown traded forward Kelly Bent for defenceman Anthony Cortese. Bent is now with Saint John while Cortese has two goals and an assist in six games this season.
