Islander fighters Matt MacGrath and Jason Saggo will be giving it their all competing for a spot The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) on Sunday in Toronto.
This season, the mixed martial arts program showcases Australia versus Canadian fighters. MacGrath has more than 20 years of competing in national and international judo competitions, combined with an extensive wrestling and Brazilian jiu jitsu background.
He has a 13-8 record and feels this is the opportunity he needs to take it to the next level.
“I want to be in the UFC and I realize the window is closing, but at 33 I feel I am the best I have ever been, and unlike the past, I improve daily and am so excited for every training session and every fight,” McGrath said in a release.
Saggo has a professional MMA record of 9 -1 and has extensive training in Brazilian jiu jitsu, muay thai and wrestling.
“I enjoy all of the sports I train in and creatively combining them to create my own unique style for MMA. I chose MMA because I thoroughly enjoy the rigorous training, the healthy eating, and the equanimity that comes from years of hard training. The TUF tryouts represent another challenge that will push me to the limit,” said Saggo in the release.
