I had the honour and privilege of playing for the Subway Sluggers softball team that recently participated at the World Masters Games in Torino, Italy.
Even though I have only been involved with the team since September, they made me feel welcomed from the very first practice.
The Games were the highlight of my athletic career in large part because of this incredible group of softball players.
Islanders should be very proud of how they represented P.E.I. and Canada at the Games.
They showed sportsmanship, determination and teamwork every time they stepped onto the field. I might forget the scores of the games as time passes on, but I will never forget the friendships, laughs and memories that were made over in Italy.
I salute Islanders for all the support you gave to the Subway Sluggers over the past three years and a big vote of appreciation to a fantastic group of women who made playing softball fun again. I may live in Moncton, but a part of my heart will always be on the Island.
