The Charlottetown Gahan House Fawcetts dropped both games Wednesday at the Canadian senior men’s fastpitch championship in Stratford, Ont.
They are now 2-2 at the nine-team tournament.
They lost 9-2 Wednesday to the Scarborough Force from Ontario in five innings and 6-1 to the East Hants Mastodons from Nova Scotia.
Designated hitter Seth Hood had two of the Fawcetts’ four hits against Ontario. Catcher Mike Craig and centre-fielder Tyler Doucette had the other hits with Doucette driving in both runs.
Randy Frame took the loss. He gave up nine runs on 10 hits while walking two and striking out three. Jeremy Tracy struck out five in recording the victory.
The Mastodons scored five in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.
Justin Schofield stuck out 11 for the win while allowing four hits.
Mark Arsenault had a solo home run in the second to give the Fawcetts the early lead. Chris Craig, Chris Arsenault and Doucette had the other Island hits.
Mitch Hardy allowed six runs on seven hits in the lost. He struck out six and walked one.
Nova Scotia improved to 2-2 with the win.
Jeff Ellsworth and the defending champions, Cheers Pub from Newfoundland, defeated Quebec 12-5 and were playing the host team in the late game. Ellsworth was 1-for-2 with two runs scored in the early contest.
The Fawcetts play two Kitchener, Ont., team todays with the Outlaws at 3 p.m. and the Cubs at 6 p.m. Cheers Pub play the Cubs at 1 p.m. and Don Cherrys (Newfoundland) at 7:30 p.m. All times Atlantic.
