MIRAMICHI, N.B. — Christopher Caissy scored at 15:02 of the third period as the Western Capitals skated past the Miramichi Timberwolves 2-1 in Maritime Hockey League playoff action Tuesday night.
The win gives the Caps a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Roger Meek Division semifinal series. Game 3 is Thursday in Summerside at 7 p.m.
The teams were scoreless in the first period and Jonathan Aubertin gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead 4:14 of the second. Caissy and JP Harvey assisted on the goal.
Cole MacDonald, from Danny Wicks and Billy Gaston, scored on a Timberwolves power play at 14:39 to tie the game going into the third period.
Alex Gallant assisted on Caissy’s goal.
The Capitals outshot the Timberwolves 35-22.
Jacob Riley was in goal for the Capitals and Julien Daigle was between the pipes for the Timberwolves.
Game 4 in the series is scheduled for Saturday in Miramichi at 8 p.m.
