Jennifer Scott will play Nola Murphy today for the first Page playoff berth at the P.E.I. Credit Unions provincial senior women’s curling championships in Summerside.
The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club.
Scott opened the eight-team tournament Thursday with a 5-4 victory over Shirley Berry and picked up her second win with a 10-4 triumph over Kathy Clarey in six ends.
Murphy beat Marg Nowlan 9-7 in nine ends and Karen Currie 10-6. Currie was leading 6-5 going to the final end before Murphy scored five for the victory. Currie defeated Diane MacKay 9-7 in extra ends in her first game while Clarey defeated Karen MacDonald 10-1 in five ends in her opening draw.
Nowlan scored singles in the last five ends to defeat MacKay 6-5 while MacDonald doubled Berry 6-3.
Men
Ron MacDonald scored four in the ninth to beat Blair Jay 9-3 in the six-team men’s championship.
Donald Clarey scored three in the eighth to close the gap to 6-5, but Bill Hope bounced back with four in the next end to take the game 10-5.
Mel Bernard from the host rink scored a deuce in the seventh to beat Lou Nowlan 5-2. All three games went nine ends.
Action continues today with games at 1 and 6 p.m. The finals are slated for Monday.
