The Eddie MacKenzie rink from Charlottetown defeated clubmate Rod MacDonald 7-2 Monday to advance to the final of the P.E.I. Tankard.
The title game goes today at 4 p.m. at the Crapaud Curling Club.
In the Page 1-2 game, MacKenzie scored four times over the last three ends to ice the victory.
He will face the winner of today’s semifinal between MacDonald and the Jamie Newson rink from Charlottetown, which goes at 11 a.m.
Defending champion Mike Gaudet lost to Newson 9-7 in an extra end in the Page 3-4 game on Monday after Newson fought back from a 7-3 deficit.
Gaudet led 7-3 after the seventh end, but Newson scored twice in the ninth, stole another pair in the 10th end to tie the game 7-7 then stole another deuce in the extra end for the win.
The winning team from this year’s Tankard will advance to the Tim Hortons Brier March 2 to 10 in Edmonton.
