UPEI Panthers rookie Zach Laustsen will carry the home team's hopes Friday night in the first evening of finals at the Atlantic Univesity Sport (AUS) swimming championships at UPEI.

Lautsten qualified for tonight's 100-metre butterfly final with the fifth-fastest time in the morning heats, breaking the Panther team record by more than two seconds in the process. He is a first-year UPEI student from Sackville, N.S.

Also on tap for tonight are the men's and women's 400-metre freestyle relays, among a host of other finals.

The action starts at 6 p.m. at the CARI pool, and continues mornings and evenings both Saturday and Sunday.
