SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside defeated the top team in the National Basketball League of Canada on Thursday night.

The Storm posted a 116-97 victory over the London Lightning, who came into the game with a 23-2 record. The Atlantic Division-leading Storm improved to 16-10. It was also the first road loss of the season for the Lightning, who came into the game 9-0 away from home.

There were a few anxious moments for the Storm, who built a 21-point lead in the third quarter, 70-49, but the Lightning rallied to close to within 76-72. However, the Storm responded with two clutch free throws by Brandon Robinson and a slam dunk by Omari Johnson to close out the scoring in the third quarter, which ended with the Storm in front 80-72.

Robinson finished with a game-high 36-point effort, and Omari Johnson contributed 24.

The Storm is right back at Eastlink Arena tonight, when the Halifax Rainmen visit for a 7 p.m. start.
