The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers are back in the saddle with games against the Dalhousie Tigers and Acadia Axemen at MacLauchlan Arena this weekend.

The games begin the second half of the Atlantic University Sport season, with the Panthers facing Dalhousie tonight before taking on conference-leading Acadia Saturday. Game times are 7 p.m.

The Panthers (6-9-1) now hold a slim one-point lead over the Tigers (5-9-2) for sixth place in the conference standings, which is also the final playoff spot. Acadia (12-3-1) is leading the conference with 25 points.

Tonight’s game is dubbed Drew Power Night and will include a moment of silence to the former Panther who died recently. DP14 shirts will be on sale for $20, with all proceeds going to the Power family.

The team will also recognize Power with a display located outside their dressing room.

The Panthers are coming off a 5-4 shootout loss to the Moncton Blue Eagles in Tignish on Saturday night.

Travis McIsaac scored three times for the Panthers.

Jordan Mayer scored UPEI’s other goal.
