Win over Shipbuilders gives Caps overall lead

DARTMOUTH — Alex Cote scored three goals and the Summerside Western Capitals grabbed the overall lead Tuesday night with a 7-2 win over the Metro Shipbuilders.

The Capitals (17-3-2-0), leaders of the Roger Meek Division in the Maritime Junior Hockey League, have 35 points, one more than the Truro Bearcats (17-3-0-1), leaders of the Eastlink Division.

The Bearcats play the Pictou County Crushers on Thursday night.

Mitchell Maynard (1-2), Justin Rasmussen (1-1), Colton Parsons and Justin Thomas also scored for the Capitals, who won their sixth straight game. Assists went to Harrison Wood (2), Dale Deon, Jonathan Aubertin and Wes Herrett.

Brandon Boutillier and Adam Fraser scored for the Shipbuilders (2-21-0-1).

Metro led 2-1 after the first period but trailed 3-2 after the second.

The Caps held a 48-24 edges in shots on goal.

Goaltenders were Dylan McQuaid (Caps) and Ben Goss (Metro).
