WINDSOR, Ont. — The Summerside Storm started off a gruelling weekend on the road with an 86-74 victory over the Windsor Express on Friday night.

The win improved the Storm’s record to 4-0  in the National Basketball League of Canada regular season. It’s the longest winning streak in franchise history after the Storm won its first three games last season.

The second-year Storm travels to Oshawa to face the Power tonight and then returns to Windsor for a Sunday matinee.

Against Windsor, Avery Smith poured in a game-high 19 points to lead the Storm.

Canadian Willy Manigat and Greg Plummer each contributed 13 while Chris Cayole also hit double digits with 12.

Victor Morris (11) and Anthony Johnson (10) were the top point-getters for Windsor (1-3).

The Storm trailed 23-22 after the first quarter, but outscored the Express 24-16 in the second to take a 46-39 lead into halftime.

The Storm extended that lead by outscoring Windsor 21-15 in the third quarter.

The Storm’s bench outscored Windsor’s 51-9, and Summerside scored 42 points in the paint compared to 22 by the Express.

The Storm did not allow any points off turnovers while scoring 16.

The Storm’s next home game is against the Moncton Miracles on Friday at 7 p.m.
