Rocket begins preparations for new hockey season today

Major junior hockey team to hold workouts, scrimmages in Pownal

P.E.I. Rocket

The P.E.I. Rocket begins its training camp today with fitness testing.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team will hold its first on-ice sessions Tuesday at the Pownal Sports Centre.

Players will take to the ice each morning for workouts and will return to the ice at 2 p.m. for scrimmages. 

The first exhibition game is scheduled for Friday in Quispamsis, N.B., against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs make a return visit to Pownal Saturday for a 2 p.m. start. 

Tickets for Saturday’s game will be available at the door at Pownal Sports Centre.

The Rocket will be in Pownal until Sept. 1 when the team moves back to the Charlottetown Civic Centre.

The Rocket opens the regular season at home against the Moncton Wildcats on Friday, Sept. 21.

The Rocket will then host the Halifax Mooseheads on Sept. 23.

The P..E.I. club then hits the road for a game on Friday, Sept. 28, at Acadie-Bathurst before hosting Gatineau on Sunday, Sept. 30.

    I feel the excitement and yes i do care. These kids are just that, KIDS. Somebody's kids at that. These kids leave home at a very young age and are trying their best out there to win every game. Maybe if you knew of a couple kids that they could bring in it may help them out, everyone is all so negative about how things are running on the Island. Its not the kids fault so why dont you try to support them or go elsewhere with all your negative bull... you may want to lace up your skates with a few of those ragtag kids and the operation they belong to... let me know how you make out...

    Here we go again, another year of promises. Gee I cant believe the excitement in the air as the Rocket are back. Well who cares. Looks by the list of players they have a lot of players to bring in. Another joke of a year with this rag tag operation.
