Connaughton heading to semi-finals

New Haven sprinter Jared Connaughton is heading to the semi-finals for the 200-metre men's track event at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Connaughton came in third in his heat, with a time of 20.72.

Canadian teammate Aaron Brown also finished third in his heat with a time of 20.55 seconds and will also go on to the semi-finals.

The world record holder in the event, Usain Bolt of Jamaica, posted a time of 20.39 seconds during his qualifying heat.

The semi-finals take place 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and finals go 4:55 p.m. Thursday.

    Always very proud to watch you in the Olympics Jared. You always give it your all and deserve to win a medal. But even if that doesn't happen please remember we "Islanders" are proud of all your accomplishments and wish you well. WTG Jared!
