P.E.I.’s Tom Nicholls, left, and John MacDonald display the medals and trophy they won at the Commonwealth powerlifting championships in Bournemouth, England.
A Sherwood man was back in serious condition Monday night at a Halifax hospital more than a week after a crash at a Nova Scotia racetrack.
Tom Nicholls had been in fair condition Thursday night, but Capital District Health spokeswoman Deidre Taylor said Monday night he was in serious condition.
Nicholls was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre after the car he was driving went off the track and into a tire wall May 12 during an open practice at Scotia Speedworld. The track is located near the Halifax International Airport.
Nicholls is a well-known powerlifter, having won national, Commonwealth and world championships. This was his second year racing stock cars.
