The UPEI Panthers finished the 2011-2012 regular season with a 5-0 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies in Summerside Saturday afternoon.
Goalie Jhase Sniderman blanked the Tommies with 29 saves to help lead the Atlantic University Sport team to a win in front of a boisterous crowd of thousands at Eastlink Arena as part of CBC's Hockey Day in Canada.
The Panthers' win was a strong statement after dropping two consecutive games to UdeM and UNB and clinches a home-opener for the team during playoffs. UPEI (36) finished the season fourth-place in the competitive AUS conference standings with a 18-10 record.
Defenceman Reggie Traccittoo scored his ninth goal of the year early in Saturday's first period. UPEI's other goals were scored by Chris Desousa, Jared Gomes, Mike MacIsaac and Travis MacIsaac.
