Hockey, basketball players shine at UPEI

UPEI Wave Athletes of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 29, are Jamielynn Donaldson from women’s hockey and Terrence Brown from the men’s basketball team.

Donaldson is a fourth-year science student from Charlottetown. In the Panthers 2-1 win on Sunday in Alberton against St. Thomas, Donaldson played outstanding defense and assisted on the winning goal.

The Panthers are currently ranked third in the AUS standings with 20 points and have secured a spot at the Subway AUS Women’s Championship taking place at Dalhousie University in Halifax March 2-4. This week the Panthers are on the road Wednesday night to face St. Francis Xavier University at 7 p.m.

Brown helps in wins

Third-year basketball guard, Brown helped the Panthers in two home games this past weekend. The Panthers defeated the Memorial Seahawks 95-77 and 100-89.

Totalling his points for the two games, Brown scored 37 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, six steals, and showed great leadership.

Brown is a third-year arts student from Nassau, Bahamas. The Panthers, who are currently first in the AUS standings with 28 points, and host the Dalhousie Tigers this Saturday night at 8 p.m.
