The battle for playoff positioning continued well into the night Friday at the 2010 Canadian senior men's fast pitch championship in Charlottetown.
The Glace Bay Mets edged the Brookfield Elks 3-2 in the final game of the round-robin to force two tiebreakers to determine the eighth and final playoff participant. It so happened that the two Nova Scotia clubs had to take the field again in the first tiebreaker. This time, Brookfield prevailed 9-2.
That meant Brookfield had to play its fourth game of the day, facing Quebec.
Brookfield went on to beat Quebec 6-1 and will take on the Owen Sound Selects of Ontario today at 9 a.m.
