With the possibility of hurricane Earl pounding P.E.I. with high winds and rain Saturday, games at the 2010 Canadian senior men’s fast pitch championship scheduled for the day have been moved to Friday.

The championship final games will still be played Sunday, with the final game at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Field complex.

Trent Birt, chair of the host committee, said the decision was made this afternoon with the news Earl still on track to impact the Maritimes this weekend.

“The pending hurricane Earl isn’t looking to good and we had to make a decision to inform the teams, players, media and volunteers,” Birt said. “We had to move forward to make a concrete scheduled.”

Birt said Friday has open slots available for makeup games and because the week went by smoothly the schedule for the day allows for games those games originally scheduled for Saturday.
