The Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders will host the Saint John Royals in a key New Brunswick Senior Baseball League matchup Sunday at Memorial Field.

Game time is 1 p.m.

The Islanders (14-9) are  in third place, a half-game behind the Moncton Mets (16-10) and four behind the Chatham Ironmen (19-6) in the race for home-field advantage in the playoffs.

This will also be the last game of the season for Cornwall native and pitcher Brody MacDonald, as he travels with the P.E.I. Youth Selects team to Kindersley, Sask., for the nationals next week and then proceeds to school. He has committed to play with the NJCAA Division 2 Muscatine Community College Cardinals in Muscatine, Iowa.

Arriving home late in June from Vauxall Academy in Alberta, he batted 4-for-16 and was 2-0 with 12.1 innings pitched and a 5.01 ERA.

The Alpines (9-13) are expected to start their ace Shawn O’Toole, who is 4-0  with an 0.93 ERA and 36 strikeouts and seven walks in 30 innings pitched.
