Arsenault drives Yankee Sun to victory in CDPEC feature
Yankee Sun and owners BM Stable, Grande-Digue, N.B., won the Thursday night feature in 1:57.3 at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre.
Kenny Arsenault was in the bike for the victory.
Coors Life was second for Terry Gallant and owners Jay Noye and Mary Jean Noye, Hunter River, while Edgewater RB took the show spot for Jason Hughes and owner Kurt Hughes, Baltimore, Ont.
Arsenault had a driving triple while Marc Campbell had a driving double.
Charlottetown golfer sits 47th at national senior event
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. - Ernie Corrigan of Charlottetown shot a 78 Thursday to sit in 47th place following third-round action at the Canadian men's senior golf championship.
Corrigan is 18-over par for the tournament. He's the only Islander to make the cut. Championship play continues today for the field of 70 golfers.
Canadian Tom Cochrane, known for the hit rock song "Life is a Highway", was tied for 17th at 11 over.

Charlottetown's Lorie Kane sits in 24th place at LPGA event
MOBILE, Ala. - Charlottetown's Lorie Kane is tied for 24th at 1-under 71 following first-round action Thursday in the Bell Micro LPGA Classic.
Shanshan Feng leads after a 5-under 67.
Kinkora hosting Atlantic mosquito AA baseball championships
KINKORA - The Bedeque McCain Blue Jackets will be hosting the Atlantic mosquito AA baseball championships at Duffy Field.
The event begins today and runs through Sunday.
Lancaster Stingrays are representing New Brunswick, Mark Forrest Auto Body Sydney All-Stars are the Nova Scotia representatives and Gander Pilots will represent Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Kensington Crusaders are the provincial champions from P.E.I., winning the Island crown Wednesday night in Summerside.
Opening ceremonies for the four-day tournament is today at 11 a.m., with the first pitch being throw out by Morgan Carlile, a recent draft pick of the New York Mets.
Awards ceremony and banquet will be held Saturday night with the championship game set for Sunday afternoon in Kinkora.
A weekend pass is $5.
Hurricanes face ABU Blue Tides
With a full week of preparation the Holland Hurricanes women's soccer team is focused on Saturday's game as it travels to Moncton to take on the Atlantic Baptist University Blue Tides.
The Hurricanes are coming off a solid performance in their Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association season opener, beating defending champion Mount Saint Vincent 1-0 are hoping to carry the momentum as they face the Blue Tides (1-0), which also won their season opener on the road at UNBSJ.
Hurricanes' Emilie Jewell feels the side is ready for the match-up.
"With the experience of the returning players accompanied with the drive and determination of the new players, we have the beginnings of a very strong, solid unit and with every practice and every game we will continue to grow and improve immensely," said Jewell.
The Hurricanes will hit the field Saturday for a 2 p.m. start with the Blue Tides and then travel home to host NSAC in their home opener Sunday, 2 p.m., at UPEI.
Summerside ringette prepares for season
Summerside Ringette is gearing up for its first season.
In an effort to expose more children of the community to the sport, an Experience Ringette event will be held on Sunday, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the Credit Union Place.
Sticks and helmets will be provided, as well as skates (upon prior request). Pre-registration is required by contacting Heather, either at hlcoles@upei.ca or 569-3885.
Several people who were once involved in ringette in other parts of Canada have also expressed their interest in working with Summerside Ringette.
Registration for the upcoming season will be taking place Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 26, from 6-9 p.m.

MacNeill wins three in?Ontario
CHELMSFORD, Ont. - Charlottetown native Mike MacNeill opened and closed Wednesday night with a bang.
He won three races on Sudbury Downs's 10-dash harness racing card.
MacNeill's first win came in Race 1 as he scored with Odee Tuff in 2:01.1. His next win was in Race 9 with PL Adder in 1:56.4.
Win three came aboard Righteous Raider in a 1:59.2 score in the Race 10 finale.
MacNeill has 40 wins in 2008.
Curlers look ahead to Canada Games
Curlers born after Jan. 1, 1993, and prior to Dec. 31, 1998, are eligible to try out for the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax.
Identification camps will be held in Summerside on Oct. 13 and Charlottetown on Dec. 21.
The cost is $10 per curler and the camps are open to all Canada Games age-eligible curlers.
There will be an open competition in Cornwall on March 22, 2009, for all age-eligible Canada Games teams.
In November 2009, an open qualifier competition will be held to determine eight qualifiers - four boys' and four girls' teams. The eight qualifiers will compete in the final selection trial in December 2009.
The winners of the trials will represent P.E.I. at the Games.
