Traditional Japanese dancers perform "Daidengaku" which is a traditional dance with a 1,000 year history. A troupe of Japanese dancers performed Sunday in the Celebration Zone at Confederation Landing Park. The troupe also performed "Kyogen" which is a traditional Japanese entertainment comedy. Originally, the term "dengaku" referred to the rice-planting festivities observed throughout Japan in which rural residents performed traditional dances. Over time the dances disappeared un til they were revived in the 20th century. The MC for the performances was Thane Camus, a television personality in Japan. Guardian photos by Brian McInnis
