Editor:
We note in the Globe and Mail Friday morning, an article by Bill Curry, which informs us that the Harper government is planning budget measures to tackle the shortage of skilled trades. We read this in the context that employment insurance inspectors are going about knocking on doors seeking and intimidating those who are perceived to be “defrauding the EI system.”
What a pity these “inspectors” cannot offer some counselling services, or better still, offer some training opportunities to some of these “fraudulent EI recipients” in the hope that some of them might help to fill this “shortage of skilled trades.”
