A recent CBC news item ‘Brazeau put on forced leave from Senate' gives yet another example of why many (most?) Canadians view the Senate with contempt, disgust, or ridicule (pick one). Senator Patrick Brazeau has been sent home, basically, and may (or may not) lose some expenses because he has been charged with assault and sexual assault.

However, he will not lose his $132,300 annual salary while on suspension or holiday (pick one). So, I'm not sure how this is different from a paid vacation. No, he cannot do his Senate duties, but from what we've seen in the media, he could care less.

Add to this story the plight of poor Mike Duffy, who seems to be getting more confused every day as to where he lives. Perhaps he has a home in every town on P.E.I. and here we are, criticizing him, when he may be trying all by himself to save our economy.

Of course, take these two, throw in Senators Pamela Wallin and Mac Harb, and their questionable expenses, and you may want to scream, puke or fire them all (pick one).

Lloyd Kerry,

Charlottetown
