Editor:

First, a definition from the dictionary. Discrimination: showing a partiality or prejudice in treatment; specifically, an action or policies directed against minority groups.

I've been waiting patiently to hear if Minister Sheridan has reversed his decision to tax, by means of the HST, those homeowners who heat their homes with wood and/or electricity. Surely a minority in this province.

It is absolutely wrong and certainly undemocratic to treat one set of the populace differently than another, e.g., those who use oil for heating and those who use wood and/or electricity.

What Mr. Sheridan is doing fits precisely with the above definition.

The sheer gall of this minister is at once perplexing and appalling. I, for one, am unimpressed to say the least and I'm sure I'm not the only one, not to mention Human Rights and the courts where it will inevitably end up unless he comes to his senses.

Allan M. Booth,

South Milton
