David MacKinnon, a Charlottetown native who moved to Ontario to work as the CEO of the Ontario Development Corporation and the Ontario Hospital Association, says P.E.I. needs to make a better impression on the rest of Canada.

He says Island political leaders need to realize the generosity of other Canadians is ending and Islanders must muster the courage to embark on a different journey and start making an economic contribution to Confederation.

How can P.E.I. make any economic contribution if they can’t balance their books and have no oil?

Other Canadians don’t vote here so what they say or think doesn’t count with Island politicians nor many Islanders. I agree with Mr. MacKinnon in principle but he is dreaming in Technicolor because Island politicians are not going to change any time soon so your good advice is wasted.

David Steeves,

Charlottetown
