The article by Teresa Wright that appeared in yournewspaper on Saturday, Nov. 24 announcing an RCMP probe into the PNP program was good news to this writer. The cloud that prevails over this program must be addressed, and the sooner the better.
I am especially proud of the leader of the Opposition who has stuck to her guns as she continues to insist that thorough investigation into the goings on surrounding this program be conducted, regardless of where it leads. The Hon. Olive Crane has heldfast to this view in spite of objections by many who just wanted this wholetopic to disappear. Her insistence on a full review is to be commended.
I am confident that Islanders will be most grateful to Ms. Crane who was willing to put her leadership on the line in order to get to the bottom of this curious situation.
In addition to this reported review, rumors abound that the CTV program, W-5, has become interested in the murky details that continue to perpetuate curiosity with regard to the PNP program as it was administered in our island province.
Many Island voters continue to express the opinionthat they are seeking a political leader who will put principle ahead of politics. They might realize that the Hon. Olive Crane does possess those rare qualities.
To this end, I fully expect upcoming polls to reflect this reality.
