Editor:
Have the people planning the royal visit to the Island ever actually cracked the spine of Anne of Green Gables? I am beginning to wonder as details of the itinerary are being released.
It has been made abundantly clear in the international media that the Duchess is an “Anne” lover, so why not show her the real Green Gables?
There is absolutely no connection between Maud Montgomery and Dalvay by the Sea, no matter how beautiful it is. Yes, it was featured in the largely made-in-Ontario mutton being passed off as P.E.I. lamb interpretation of Anne, but that has very little to do with Maud’s own work.
I feel badly that HRH has been duped by the planners.
