A short letter from the editor

We like letters. We like short letters even better.

Why? Because people read short letters.

The same is true for guest opinions.

As many readers have noticed over the past week, there has been a redesign of the editorial and opinion pages.

As part of that redesign, we have reduced the size of letters to 250 words or less. Trust us. You can get your point across in 250 words or less.

Guest opinions should be 500 words or less.

This will allow us to get more of your viewpoints published and make for a livelier editorial and opinion section.

We’ll try to be gentle with our editing – for now. But be warned, sharper editing tools have been ordered.

See, we’ve made our point in 130 words or less.
