I have just read the article written by Senator Percy Downe on the unfair toll on The Confederation Bridge. He has stated there will be no toll on the new bridge in Montreal. This bridge was built at a cost of slightly over $5 billion of federal money. The Confederation Bridge was built at a cost of nearly $1 billion of federal money.

This Confederation Bridge has a toll of $45.50. The bridge here is part of the Trans-Canada Highway, just as is the new bridge in Montreal. Just in fairness alone the toll here should be eliminated. All Canadians expect to be treated fairly. I urge all provincial and federal MLAs to ask the federal government to eliminate this unfair toll. I also ask all like-minded people of P.E.I. to do the same.

John McNally,
