Editor: Kudos to the Canadian Mint on the unveiling of its 1864-2014 Commemorative Gold Coin (Guardian, August 27th). The design recognizes the Irish and Scottish communities among the founding peoples of Canada - a fact not always acknowledged by officialdom. Well done, many thanks.
