How did store ever get corner?

Editor: When it comes to my fellow readers and their comments on the Taboo adult store/smoke shop, I agree, because prior to moving to Water Street I lived in the neighbourhood of this store and the thing about this store that rattles me is how in God’s name did the store get this corner in the first place.

One of the streets that this corner is on has an elementary school and now it also has a daycare on it. My goodness, is there any screenings prior to letting a store set up shop, because if there were we wouldn’t be in this controversy to begin with.

I agree with parents of young kids. Although I have no kids I see my cousins’ kids and friends’ kids who are the ages of Prince Street school students and I remember seeing kids walk by this store every day when I lived in the area. Knowing this is now an adult store, my goodness I’m glad it’s finally being reviewed. I know the owner has the freedom of speech and the right to plead her case. If she would look through the eyes of my old community and the parents, she would understand where they are coming from and the point they are trying to make.

Evan Larter,
